How to improve the quality of my daily work?
September 22, 2017
We have around us a lot of stuff with no added value to what we do. But it is not that easy to stay away from them. Those stuff are distractions. We can notice it on the quality of our work and other people will feel it through our interactions with them.
For example, it happens that we regularly buy consumer goods and we sometimes pay for services. When a product or service meets our expectations, we order it and we do not hesitate to return to the company which puts this product or service on the market. Little by little the company gets clients and continues to improve the quality of its products to secure the loyalty of its customers.
These products and services are designed by other people or by ourselves if we are working in the company that makes them available. So the result of the work of these people has an impact on us and the result of our work can have an impact on other people.
It is then necessary to think of the quality of our work, to improve it and continue to improve it as much as possible.
Improving the quality within a company
It is in the interest of a company to put in place a quality approach. This is what allows you to satisfy customers by offering quality products. But this requires investments and necessary skills for a successful implementation of such an approach.
In logistics, for example, there are tools that help improve the work in terms of quality control. A malfunction in this area can cause delays in delivery and the additional cost to repair materials. Not to mention that the regulations and ISO standards must be respected.
We improve the quality within a company by strictly following all the steps that help perform various tasks. Everyone must be concerned when it comes to continuously improving the quality. Despite that there are workers who are reluctant to any change; a manager should be able to make them accept a change related quality control.
Improving the quality outside of the company
After finishing our work in the company, we devote our time to our personal projects or we take care of our families and homes. This means that we continue to work again and again.
In this case, to ensure that our work is of good quality, we need to take this into account:
Think of the Eisenhower matrix
The Eisenhower matrix allows us to distinguish between what is important and what is urgent. In doing so, we would know the tasks for which we need to devote more time and energy by doing them now (Important and Urgent). And we leave the tasks that are neither important and nor urgent.
As far as it is about the tasks that are important but no-so-urgent, we schedule in order to do them later. To finish, we delegate tasks that are urgent but less important.
Think of a reward
A good work is always appreciated. But it takes time, effort and know-how to successfully do a job. We are very happy if we do a good work and we can choose to stop from that joy.
We can also choose to go a little further by thinking of rewarding yourselves. This award will perhaps give us the motivation to start again and even improve the quality of our work and go toward perfection.
Hi Vincent,
I had not thought of the Eisenhower deal. Good point there, and good points all around.
We can get caught up in busy work or really dive deeply into what needs to be done, to improve the quality of your daily work. I go with the latter.
Too many struggle in life, keeping busy with mundane or silly tasks, while a select few get busy with the meat and taters, the really key stuff, that builds their business and improves their life, and the lives of their readers and customers.
Thanks for sharing Vincent.
