How long is the way from the social work to logistics in terms of transition?
August 18, 2017
There are examples of professional transitions from one field to a totally different another one. Some people succeed in doing a transition but others fail or have trouble in going to the end of their project. People who did everything possible to make it succeeded whereas those who failed, remain happy by saying that they were not enough lucky.
Whatever the result, it is clear that nothing ventured, nothing gained. We may not succeed the transition but trying out helps us, not only acquire skills but also meet people.
In terms of a transition from the social work to logistics, the way to go in order to achieve it depends on what we do.
I love my job and I do it well
The work we do before or after a transition must be done very well, regardless it is in the field of social work or in logistics. The reason is to gain some good practices when it comes to doing any job.
One of the pieces of advice not to forget is to love what we do. In general, when we love what we do, we do it very well.
As far as I am concerned, for example, the fact that I love social work helped me write this poem about volunteering from which I started. Here is the translation from the French language.
BENEVOLAT = VOLUNTEERING
(Every letter of the word BENEVOLAT has a meaning to me).
(B says: To Act well for the common good)
(E says: To be available for the human being)
(N says: To link what we do with know-how)
E dit : Ecouter, aider et se taire. (E says: To listen, help and keep quiet)
(V says: To quickly advice if necessary)
O dit : Oublier les difficultés du bénévolat. (O says: To forget the difficulties of volunteering)
(L says: To fight to avoid the word handouts)
(A says: To accept others the way there are)
(T says: To try bringing happiness to everyone)
I define well my career plan
Once we know what we love and want to do, we should write down all our strengths and weaknesses for the so-called job. Then, if we decide to go on, we need to know all the steps of the plan.
When we take all the time necessary for a well-defined plan, we will mainly not have to come back on every finished step and we will succeed at the end.
To answer the question and in addition to what has been said, the way to go from social work to logistics will depend on the effort we are willing to put in to achieve it. For some people it will be a long way to go whereas for others, it will be very short.
